Afghan Health & Development Service(AHDS is a not-for-profit, non-governmental, and non- political organization founded by Afghans on April 7th, 1990. AHDS is registered as a national NGO (No. 5) in the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Public Health and Ministry of Education in Afghanistan; AHDS is also registered as a tax-exempt 501-(c)(3) organization in the USA.
Provide guidance and advice to the management team on technical issues of Gender mainstreaming in the organization and its projects.
Network and maintain a dialogue with relevant stakeholders e.g. government institutions, national and international development organizations to ensure collaboration, synergy, and sharing of experiences on gender issues.
Lead assessment and research activities at the community level to gather information and analysis on gender issues.
Develop a plan to create awareness among staff and partner communities on how to lead the documentation and sharing of lessons on Gender best programming practices.
Identifying training needs and organize pieces of training in gender mainstreaming.
Lead training workshops for relevant stakeholders, staff, and key actors on Gender and program-related topics.
Establish gender committees at the center and field level.
Conduct meetings/need assessment with authorities, community, elders, and women-headed families on Gender issues to improve community participation and collect related information to then incorporate for submission of projects concept and proposals.
Collect and compile activity reports and recommendations of the field activities related to gender.
Support the monitoring, evaluation, and reporting on gender mainstreaming by ensuring the collection of relevant baseline information and formulation of indicators that are sensitive to gender.
Track progress and provide data on gender issues
Perform any other required project/program-related tasks.
At least a Bachelor’s Degree.
Trained in gender issues studies.
At least 3 years’ experience working on gender/advocacy and women empowerment issues.
Ability to build the capacity of staff and partners to deliver gender-related work.
Ability to excellent communicates in written and oral English, Pashtu, and Dari languages.
