Organization of Fast Relief & Development (OFRD) is an independent, humanitarian non-governmental organization working to help and rebuild Afghanistan after decades of war and destruction. OFRD is a registered NGO with “NGO’s Department” Ministry of Economy of Government of Afghanistan.  Our program activities are concentrated on six core activities as following:

Job Description:

OFRD is looking for qualified Child Protection (CP) Case Worker to be based in Herat and Kandahar provinces (one person in each province), who will be responsible to deliver services to project beneficiaries. Following are some specific duties:

  • To ensure vulnerable children are identified and receive individual case management support by conducting documentation, assessments, action plans, direct service provision, referrals and follow ups for an assigned case load of children.
  • To provide support to families in the process of case management.
  • To organize individual and/or group psychosocial support activities, in cooperation with the other team members.
  • To directly work with other social worker and service providers on management of caseload and referrals.
  • Provide individual case management for children in accordance with all case management steps and related tools and procedures.
  • Provide ongoing support to Child Friendly Space (CFS) centers.
  • Offer psychological first aid (PFA) to children and parents/caregivers.
  • Communicate regularly other case management and protection staff for updates on achievements and challenges.
  • Ensure that offered activities respond to the needs of children and continuously reassess the situation and the needed interventions.
  • Ensure activities are safe for children and staff members and assess the safety and security of the interventions.
  • Participate into case conferences, working groups, ad hoc workshops and thematic trainings when required.
  • Keep all the case files updated and secured.
  • Any other task requested by the direct supervisor or Senior Management Team (SMT).

Duty Station:

The position holder will work physically in Herat and Kandahar provinces also can work remotely from home with regular consultations with the supervisor through Skype, Internet, telephone, and emails.


Job Requirements:

  • At least 2 to 3 years of working experience in specific social work or case management work experience with children particularly in emergency settings, Child Protection in emergency, human rights, and have 12 grade education.
  • Adequate knowledge and skills to manage child protection cases according to the standard case management system;
  • Ability to travel independently to the targeted districts;
  • Fluent in national languages Pashto and Dari and and basic knowledge of English;
  • Excellent knowledge and skills in child rights, child protection, child/youth/community resilience, psychosocial support, community/youth development and mobilization, especially in an emergency context;
  • Senior leadership and management experience in the development sectors;
  • Demonstrable understanding of and commitment to Child Protection, and knowledge of how Child Protection programs can be used for Afghanistan;
  • Experience managing diverse teams, including recruitment, professional development and performance management;
  • Dynamism, proactivity and personal resilience, and demonstrable ability to adapt to changing and uncertain circumstances;
  • Understanding the local culture as OFRD adhere to work according to the local cultures and respect to the community. Knowledge of AHF and other clusters funding procedures will be an advantage.
  • Hostile environment training or willingness to undergo hostile environment training;
  • Demonstrable interest in combating trafficking in persons, human rights, youth/women empowerment, education, health, livelihood, sports, media and communication;

Able to reachable/accessible for OFRD’s operation 24 hours/week through cell phone and internet after office working hours (8am to 4pm – 8 hours a day);
