Job Description:

General Duties:

  • The livestock officer is responsible for all aspects of livelihood sector, with the overall objective of improving the well-being of targeted communities.
  • Promote local economic recovery for livelihoods improvement, employment creation and food security of vulnerable households and communities.
  • Support inclusive economic growth with focus on livestock training and improvement in targeted communities and farmers
  • Providing technical and practical livelihood trainings to the beneficiaries regarding the livestock care and management
  • Support ERD field team and facilitate strategic decision making such as village/community selection, beneficiary selection criteria and support modalities.

Specific Duties:

  • Ensure IRC economic recovery and livelihood programs are implemented using best practice tools for effective project cycle management
  • Provide technical trainings and support to ERD livestock, and livelihoods beneficiaries in the targeted areas in accordance with best practice and IRC policies.
  • Participate in various field assessment and surveys including needs assessment baseline surveys and pre-post distribution surveys.
  • Ensure the implementation of the livestock and livelihoods component of the program according to the target and ensure the trainees capacity building in livestock management
  • Provide support to implementation of all livelihood project activities.
  • Keep track of all technical training of the Livestock and proper tracking of activities and trainings through program reports and beneficiaries data tracking
  • Develop and provide inputs for promotional material of beneficiaries in line with the current market need.


Job Requirements:

  • Years of Experience: 2-3
  • Skills: Training skills, Management skills, communication skill
  • Technical Competency: Livestock management and Communication skills
  • Fluency in Pashto, Dari and English
  • Computer skills (including MS Word, Excel, Access, and internet) an advantage
  • Ability to work closely, professionally, and constructively with all others regardless of nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, race, tribe, or cultural background
