About Afghan Women Skills Development Center (AWSDC):

The Afghan Women Skills Development Center (AWSDC) founded in 1999 is a national non-governmental organization (NGO), dedicated to the promotion and protection of the rights of women in Afghanistan and supporting Afghans to live in peace.  AWSDC key thematic focus areas are Peacebuilding, Women Rights/GBV, WASH and Humanitarian Response. The organization geographical areas are Kabul, Kunduz, Faryab and Samangan Provinces. The organization since the startup of first wave of COVID-19 has provided humanitarian assistance to nearly 65,000 COVID-19 affected men, women and children under its geographical areas. Likewise, AWSDC is one of Humanitarian Actors that provides protection, WASH and Emergency Shelter and None food items to vulnerable Afghanistan across the country.


AWSDC in response to the humanitarian crisis is scaling up its interventions to serve more people through provision of life savings assistance, GBV, WASH, Food/None Food Items.   Recently AWSDC has aligned its strategic priorities to the address the acute deficits of affected population through provision of protection services, WASH, Food Assistance and NFIs in Afghanistan.

AWSDC is in the process to recruit program officer to support the program department in planning, implementation and reporting of the planned project with key focus on WPC project in Kabul and assist program director in the management of other thematic focus areas of the organization.

Job Description:

  • Provide programmatic support to AWSDC WPC project in Kabul
  • Develop and maintain sound relationship with project staff to receive project update, share the project update, challenges and reporting
  • Develop month, quarterly and annual report and submission to line manager for review
  • Develop sound filing system for Program Department to maintain electronic and hard copies.
  • Develop weekly, monthly and quarterly plan to plot project key deliverables and ensure that all deadlines are met
  • Prepare project weekly, monthly cash forecasting for submission to finance for project cash flow
  • Tracking project staff time sheet and preparing payroll report to HR/Finance
  • Design and draft project proposal for both development and humanitarian response.
  • Design sound program operation system for project staff and the department
  • Assist Program Director to prepare departmental objective, monthly task calendar and ensure that they are tracked.
  • Prepare letters and documents to line departments/ministries including MoECc reporting
  • Accompany and mentor project staff in implementing and documenting the results of the WPC programme.
  • Support the finance team to prepare quarterly budget vs actual expenditure for management team to track the budget vs actual cost.
  •  Contribute to reports required by the AWSDC and other donors providing funds 
  • Regularly update the Program Director on the progress and challenges of the programme.
  • Participation and reporting to the Working group/cluster such as WASH, FSAC, Protection, and Coordination bodies.
  • Support Executive Director in preparation of documents such as office memos, letters etc.
  • Any other task as requested by Program Director/Executive Director

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social science or related field
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment, and to coordinate complex activities, meet deadlines, and exercise sound judgment.
  • Strong project management skillset, including budget management skills and work planning and monitoring.
  • Previous experience in Development, Advocacy, Peacebuilding, Humanitarian Response, Protection and GBV programming for returnees and IDPs with national and International Organizations
  • At least 3-5 year of working with in GBV/Peacebuilding, Protection, WASH and Humanitarian Response in Afghanistan
  • Proposal development and be familiar with donor reporting
  • Excellent communication (both oral and written) in English and local languages, people skill for conflict resolution and negotiation
  • Good skills of using micro soft office software
  • Good presentation skills
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently.
