Job Purpose

As a key member of the Supply Chain Team, the role of the Procurement Coordinator is to ensure that the SCI procurement processes, procedures and ways of working are followed on a daily basis and to support logistics and programme staff.  Requires comprehensive knowledge around purchasing, carrying out of daily purchasing activities, and effective communication with relevant personnel or departments, including funding for donor requirements, around any purchasing/procurement issues and risks that could arise are key aims for this post.


The position holder will – if required – in building the of the supply chain and provide guidance relevant to his/her key responsibilities in relation to procurement policy, process and procedures.


To provide Procurement support to the Save the Children team in various offices and in the management and implementation of all programme work.   





Key Accountabilities

Supply Management

  • Ensure the procurement tracker for all AFG CO, is regularly updated properly and circulated to relevant staff.
  • Review all documents under Formal Quotation and Tender before final issuing of purchase orders, contracts and framework agreements procured locally.
  • Amend the documents – while keeping clear tracking of changes – so it compliant to SCI procurement procedures.
  • Ensure that the procurement is complete and conduct file as per SCI procurement policies and procedures.
  • Request from the supply chain lead responsible of the procurement file any missing documents to ensure that the procurement is complete and fulfils the requirements under SCI procurement policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that the procurement withstands scrutiny audit.
  • Submit the above document to the Supply chain manager with recommendations on the validity and appropriateness and that it is in line with SCI procurement policy and procedures.
  • Monitor the procurement paper trail from for all procurement procedures related to formal quotation, contracts and framework agreements procured locally.

    Job Requirements:


    A Minimum of First Degree/BA degree in Supply Chain Management, accounting, Management or any relevant field, and at least 5 years of practical work experience in Supply Chain




    • 5 years of experience in supply chain (Procurement) NGOs/INGOs, UN etc.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills
    • Positive experience in managing others
    • Ability to work under pressure
    • Ability to work as a team player
    • Fluent in Pashto and/or Dari with skills in English
    • Good self-starter with effective time management skills
    • Strong skills in coordinating and collaborating with others in partnership
    • Positive, solution-driven, respectful and with a ‘can-do’ attitude
    • Strong IT skills (e.g. Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
    • Ability and willingness to travel within Afghanistan



    • Experience working in humanitarian emergencies across multiple areas of Afghanistan
    • Experience in document management and review.
    • Experience in data tracking and managing the KPIs for supply chain (Procurement)
    • Experience in managing audits for procurement and preparing, arranging, providing quality data to external/internal audits and ICC.
