About SCA:

 

         SCA Background

SCA has been working in Afghanistan since 1982 and is presently managing development programmes linked to Strategic Objectives concerning Health, Education and Community Driven Development. With a total annual, budget of roughly USD 40 million. The total number of staff is around 5,700 of whom 15 are non-Afghans. The SCA presence in Afghanistan consists of the Kabul Management Office (KMO), five Regional Management Offices and two Liaison Offices. In Sweden SCA has 20 staff working at the Stockholm Management Office (SMO) and around 3,500 members organized in local chapters all over the country. In the last 10 years, SCA has undertaken a change process moving from a primarily humanitarian service delivery approach towards more of a developmental role, putting increasing emphasis on capacity development, rights-based programming and outcome orientation. The mission of SCA is to empower individuals, communities and local organizations, primarily in rural areas and with particular focus on women, girls, boys and vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities, so that they may participate fully in society and influence their own development.


Job Description:

S       cope of work:        

Disability programme of Swedish Committee for Afghanistan is working for full inclusion of Persons with disabilities in society through provision of services such as Physical rehabilitation, vocational trainings, access to interest free revolving loan, special preparatory education to children with disabilities for inclusion to public schools, and awareness raising of community, families, authorities on the rights of Person with disabilities.

Disability Programme is working for institutional capacity building of disabled people organization (DPOs) professional association and NGOs working in the disability sector to advocate for the rights of person with disability to government and international community.

The disability programme is managed by a programme management unit in Kabul management office (KMO) and by four regional management offices (RMOs) at Jalalabad, Mazar, Taloqan and Ghazni.

The Physiotherapist is the main responsible of physiotherapy clinic according to given guidelines. She will administer physiotherapy services to clients, giver referrals and is responsible for the record-keeping, follow-up and reporting on activities in the physiotherapy clinic.

Main Responsibilities

Supervisory Tasks:

  • To supervise, and support CBR-workers and community volunteers during HBT-program especially in physical rehabilitation of disabled people

Technical Tasks:

  • To treat those disabled and none disabled people in the area who need physiotherapy either at home or in the clinic
  • To manage the Physiotherapy care of the patient, including patient assessment treatment planning and implementation for those conditions and disabilities prevalent in area
  • To assess the disabled people identified by CBR-workers and community volunteers in the community who may need physiotherapy
  • To express good empathy, safety and competence in the handling of disabled and none disabled physiotherapy related patient
  • To follow up the disabled people who have been referred to other rehabilitation sources
  • To participate in internal Disability-project coordination meetings
  • Local technical aids should be advised to the CBR-workers and community volunteers and Family trainers
  • To write prescriptive report regarding his/her activities on regular basis and submits to Physiotherapy supervisor,
  •  60 % Home visit should be conducted regularly in accordance to planed time table, which should be made in consultation and coordination with CBR-workers and community volunteers
  • To keep clinic and it is instrument clean and tidy and store all equipment in a safe way
  • To provide necessary awareness in relation to disabilities and prevention of disability for the PwDs, their family and the community
  • Conduct joint OPD with Orthopaedic staff as required,

Training Tasks:

  • To share his/her knowledge and experience with relevant colleagues and train CBR-workers, community volunteers and Family Trainers in the required therapy/procedures.

 

 

 

Tasks of inter organizational relation:

  • Promote gender equality, non-discrimination with regard to ethnic, political and religious background
  • To participate actively in workshops, seminars & conference organised by the SCA management
  • Promotes good coordination with other SCA projects, all RMOs units and other units/departments at RMOs


Job Requirements:

Qualifications and Requirement :

  • Recognized 3 years Diploma in Physiotherapy, bachelor in physiotherapy will be preferred.
  • 1 -2 years’ relevant experience, especially within an NGO, UN agencies ,Privet clinics or similar organization and Clinical experience in physical therapy is a must.
  • Computer skill at operator level, especially with MS Office packages.
  • Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto, both written and spoken, English preference.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Team worker, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience of planning and reporting.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to the project sites within Afghanistan and adjust to SCA environment.
  • Honest, proactive and well mannered.
  • To be Afghan National, local candidate will be preferred.
